The Swiss annual vignette offers maximum value. It is valid for up to 14 months: from December 1 of the prior year until January 31 of the following year (e.g., the 2026 vignette is valid from Dec 1, 2025, to Jan 31, 2027).

Prices valid as of 2026. Subject to change by Swiss authorities.

Good to know

  • No short-term options: There are no weekly or monthly vignettes. Even if you are just transiting Switzerland for an hour, you must purchase the annual vignette.
  • The trailer rule (1 vehicle = 1 vignette): If you are towing a caravan, boat, or utility trailer, you must purchase TWO separate vignettes—one for the car and one for the trailer.
  • Motorbikes pay full price: Motorcycles and trikes require their own separate vignette and are charged the same flat rate of 40 CHF.
  • Toll tunnels: The vignette covers almost all highways and major tunnels (including the Gotthard). However, the Grand St. Bernard Tunnel and Munt la Schera Tunnel are separate toll zones paid directly on-site.
  • Windshield protection: By choosing the digital e-vignette over the old paper sticker, your toll is linked to your plate. If your windshield cracks or you change your car glass, your vignette remains 100% valid.

Swiss border customs and highway police heavily enforce vignette compliance using static and mobile camera networks. Fines apply equally to missing trailer vignettes.

Commonquestions

No. Switzerland only issues an annual vignette. Shorter multi-day options do not exist in the Swiss toll system.

Yes. In Switzerland, every registered vehicle needs its own vignette. If you tow a caravan or trailer under 3.5 tonnes, you must buy two digital vignettes: one registered to the car's plate and one to the trailer's plate.

No, once an e-vignette is registered to a specific licence plate, it cannot be transferred to a completely different vehicle or plate. However, if you have interchangeable plates (common in Switzerland/Austria), the vignette covers whichever car currently displays that plate.

Yes, while major routes like the Gotthard Tunnel are fully covered, the Great Saint Bernard Tunnel and the Munt-La-Schera Tunnel require separate toll fees paid at their respective entry terminals.

Before the validity window begins: yes, with EuroGoPass Plus you can adjust your plate parameters or country up to 15 minutes prior to activation. Once active, details are locked into the system.

Depending on your route to the Swiss Alps, you may cross through France, Germany, Austria, or Italy. EuroGoPass automatically calculates every required vignette or toll box solution for your entire road trip.

  • An e-vignette is mandatory on all Swiss national highways and motorways marked with green-and-white signs, including major transit routes: A1, A2 (Gotthard route), A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A12, A13, A14, A16.
  • Driving on these networks without prior digital plate registration triggers immediate fines at border crossings or via highway checkpoints.
