Good to know

  • Motorcycles, trikes, and quadricycles do not need any vignette or toll registration on Czech motorways.
  • Trailers towed by cars under 3.5 tonnes are completely free. You do not need a second vignette or any extra registration for your caravan or utility trailer.
  • Fully electric or hydrogen-powered vehicles are exempt from the vignette. EuroGoPass can help guide you through the official exemption process if your vehicle is registered outside the Czech Republic.
  • The 1-day vignette is valid for one specific calendar day (from the chosen start time until midnight of that same day), not a rolling 24-hour period.
  • The 1-year vignette is completely flexible and valid for a full rolling 365 days starting from your chosen activation date.
  • Toll exemptions and discount categories (Eco-Price) are heavily enforced. Ensure you accurately enter your vehicle's propulsion type during registration.

Driving without a vignette

SituationOn-the-spot fineAdministrative proceeding fine
Missing or invalid e-vignetteup to 5 000 Kč (~200 €)up to 20 000 Kč (~800 €)
Falsely claiming Eco/Electric discount—up to 100 000 Kč (~4 100 €)

Czech highway police and customs officials use advanced camera systems to scan plates at high speeds. Fines are strictly issued and can be collected directly on the spot.

Commonquestions

If your vehicle runs on petrol, diesel, or LPG and weighs up to 3.5 tonnes, you need the standard vehicle vignette.

No. In the Czech Republic, trailers attached to passenger cars and vans under 3.5 tonnes do not require any extra vignette or toll payment.

The Eco-Price applies to vehicles powered by Natural Gas (CNG/LNG) or biomethane. A deeper discount applies to Plug-in Hybrids with CO₂ emissions under 50 g/km. EuroGoPass automatically applies the correct pricing when you select your fuel type during check-out.

No, electric and hydrogen vehicles are completely exempt from the toll. However, if your electric vehicle has a non-Czech licence plate, you may need to file an official exemption notice before using the motorways.

Before the validity begins: yes. With EuroGoPass Plus, you can modify registration details or push back the start time up to 15 minutes before activation. Once the vignette becomes active, no changes or corrections can be made.

If you transit through Central Europe from Germany or Poland towards the south, you will likely cross into Slovakia, Austria, or Hungary. EuroGoPass calculates every required vignette automatically for your complete journey.

  • All major Czech motorways (Dálnice - D) require an e-vignette, including: D1 (Prague - Brno - Ostrava), D2, D3, D4, D5 (Prague - Pilsen - Germany), D6, D7, D8 (Prague - Ústí nad Labem - Germany), D10, D11, D35, D46, D48, D52, D55, D56.
  • Only specifically marked urban sections (e.g., city ring roads around Prague or Brno) and unfinished segments are toll-free. EuroGoPass route planning automatically displays and handles these zones.
